Foothills Environmental Center, Hulls Gulch

Awarded to the INSIGHT architects and Guho Corporation Design/Build Team, this center serves two primary purposes. First, funding is provided by the BLM which is targeting “fire safe” design. Fire safe design elements include thoughtful landscaping, building materials, and detailing. Second, this facility also incorporates energy saving techniques. Such techniques include use of natural day lighting, building orientation, passive solar design, efficient electrical heating and cooling methods, and energy producing elements such as photo voltaic and fuel cells. The U. S. Department of the Interior recognized this project for Outstanding Cooperation, and also awarded INSIGHT with a National Cooperative Conservation Award.
